The Saint Louis Zoo has recently been in the news for being the site of the world’s first captive Hellbender breeding. Hellbenders are one of the largest species of salamanders in North America. This is exciting because the Hellbender is on the endangered species list. It is also known as the “snot otter” or “old lasagna sides”. They also have cheetahs, Lemurs and penguins. A visit to this zoo can be quite exciting and educational. The Bronx Zoo is an unexpected site for New York City. There you will find a Red Panda as well as an exhibit called Tiger Mountain where you can get up close to a Siberian Tiger and see six new tiger cubs. The zoo has Snow Leopards as well as hissing cockroaches and turtles, snakes and kangaroos. There are many wonderful zoos across the United States and there is so much to learn about the animals.
