Giant Pandas
Recently the Giant Pandas have been gaining the attention of people on a much more globular tone. The Giant Panda portrayed as a big giant black and white Teddy Bear is far from the truth. The animal is truly a real Bear that has the somewhat same traits as other bears.
Giant Pandas have in the past suffered from the fact that their environment is being encroached on swiftly, leaving a much smaller area for them to exist. The forest is disappearing and the Giant Panda is following. Deforestation is being done at an alarming rate. Farmers are claiming new farming ranges and the Giant Pandas take the bong leftovers.
Giant Pandas are on the endangered species list with only about 1600 surviving in the wild the remainders are on display throughout the world zoos and displays. Giant Pandas are a very allusive and not much is actually known about the animal. The Giant Pandas social behavior and eating habits seem to be the only real well known facts.
Living in China at an altitude between 5000-10000 feet the Giant Panda survives on mainly Bamboo shoots to fill its dietary needs. The Giant Panda also consumes some small rodents and an occasional small deer. Water is supplied mainly by its consumption of bamboo but the Giant panda also drinks water on a daily basis. The Giant Panda lives to be over 30 years old and keeps its young with it up to 3 years. The young are born helpless without hair about the size of a small a large bar of soap. They are also blind at birth. The mother Giant Panda is quite involved with the raising of her cubs. Often two or three are born but only one usually survives.
Recently scientist thought the animal hibernated like other bears, this has been recently discovered that the animal doesn’t hibernate at all and is often seen in winter months foraging in the Bamboo forests for food. The scientist latter went on to say that the animal would become extinct in the next twenty years, unless something was done to preserve their forested range.
The fact that the animal is endangered and not is well known should draw scientists and sponsors to rally for global education on this disappearing animal. The need for education is truly at a high for this animal. Education it seems would be the clear choice regarding the Giant Pandas survival.
